About the show
Welcome MUR to Vienna!
On March 21, 2027, at the Wiener Stadthalle (Halle F), MUR will transport you to one of the most significant periods in Ukrainian history with its new musical, “REBELLIA [1991].” “Rebellia” is an ancient word denoting rebellion and resistance, which, in MUR’s modern interpretation, serves as an artistic reminder of the price of freedom. Discover the story of Ukraine’s restoration of independence in MUR’s new musical.
The Musical “REBELLIA [1991]” on Stage at the Wiener Stadthalle!
The plot of “REBELLIA [1991]” centers on the outstanding figures who fought for the restoration of Ukrainian independence – Vasyl Stus, Alla Horska, Viacheslav Chornovil, Les Taniuk, Ivan Dziuba, and others. The musical takes the audience through the birth of the Sixtiers movement, the Bykivnia tragedy, the Chornobyl disaster, and the first meetings of the People’s Movement. You’ll witness a struggle that escalates during mass protests and culminates in the ceremonial presentation of the flag to the Verkhovna Rada.
